There were headlines like “Woody Loves Mia’s Daughter” and “Woody’s Steamy Tapes” splashed across the New York Post. Even the more subdued New York Daily News had this headline: “Woody in Love, Allen Speaks Out About Mia’s Daughter.” The tabloids bathed in a kind of sick glee. It was the sort of story that confirmed everything media wanted to believe about celebrities. The storyline was that they might be famous and beautiful, but deep down they were profoundly, truly, and deeply broken.
